Weekend Ghetto-way
Dan and I spent the night in Wendover this past weekend. Months ago, he saw that America was coming there in concert, and even though I had never heard of the group, nor a single song they sing, I felt like it was my wifely duty to humor him - most of our activities are designed by and/or around me. So we left the kids with a sitter and went down early for dinner - a buffet, of course. Now I really liked buffets before I was pregnant. And now I really, really like them. And there's no guilt attached, since I'm eating for 5. Or so it seems. Next was the concert. It was in a small venue and we sat third row from the front in plush chairs for which my back and butt were very grateful. Then we spent the night in a suite that Dan bought from a Wendover 'high-roller'. Granted it was about 30 years old, but it was the biggest hotel room either of us had stayed in, my favorite part being the bathtub/hottub in the middle of the room. To top it off we ate another buffet in the morning, and headed home. Good times in Wendover - who knew.

Tiny Dancer

Delylah started dance class this week. I know she's young, but I'm hoping it will satisfy her desire to be a princess that has gotten out of control lately. And it's absolutely adorable to watch. Brooks has always been my child who thrives off NOT listening to the teacher and doing her own thing (which I take full responsibility for) but Delylah is a pleaser and loves to do what the teacher says (which Dan takes full responsibility for)

Moving On
Dear Little Girl Clothes,
I have been putting this off for far too long, and now it's time for us to say goodbye and go our separate ways. You were always there to bring out the cutest in my girls. I have held onto you until now, in case the baby was a girl, but it's not, and now you must go. Our storage space is limited and we can no longer keep you around. I can imagine my girls wearing each and every one of you, and it makes me smile. This has been very hard for me to come to terms with (which I will of course blame on being pregnant, and thus overly emotional), but it must be done. You are only size 18-24 months, because I am not yet ready to part with size 0-12 months, but in due time. Thank you for your service. I know you will make another family very happy.

Girly Girls
Dan and I have been kind of consumed with moving and getting settled, but I have managed to take a few pics in between of the girls. I figured now was a good time to post them because it's past their bedtimes and they have come out of their rooms about 12 times each and are driving me NUTS - just needed a reminder that they really are cute, sweet girls. Most of the time.

No Ordinary Haircut
Delylah got her third haircut today. Her last two haircuts have been SuperCut's specials, but this time we found a kid's place near our house. Delylah doesn't get her hair cut because it's getting too long. She gets it cut because it's getting too scraggly. In addition, recently a chunk was cut out of her bangs, compliments of herself. Luckily it was nothing terrible, but her hair needed some serious help. After it was trimmed, the lady gave her an 'up-do' (i.e. two ponytails).
I swear this place was more fun than she makes it look here.

Here she is with her good behavior loot - a balloon and sucker.

At last, a happy camper. With short bangs.

The Infamous Dress
My mom came across a dress recently that I wore when I was about Delylah's age. Actually, the word 'dress' doesn't do it justice. It's from Holland (many, many years ago) and comes with a blouse, jumper, and matching apron. I tried it on Delylah the other day when I needed a good laugh. (I get many good laughs at my kids expense. I figure that's my right as a mom.) But Delylah has gotten the last laugh, because she won't take it off. By mid-morning each day she has either stripped off her clothes and put it on, or just put it on over whatever she is wearing. It's slightly embarrassing when we go out while she's wearing it, just because people probably assume I'm slightly outdated. But I'm trying to let her be more independant. And wearing a goofy dress out isn't the worst thing in the world.

Upstairs: A Work in Progress
We're starting to feel somewhat settled, upstairs at least. There is still some painting to do and furniture to buy, but all in all, it's finished.
Delylah's room: We let the girls pick the colors of their rooms, so they love them. But they're definitely bright. Soon we're having murals painted on their walls of things they decided on - Brooklyn's will have a rainbow with a sun and stars, and Delylah's will have a garden with butterflies and bumblebees. I've never been one for cheesy comforters with cartoon characters on them, but Delylah loves Minnie Mouse and we thought that it would make the transition to a big bed easier. And it was. So well worth it.

Brooklyn's room: When we moved in, Delylah got Brooklyn's big-girl bed, and Brooklyn got a new bed - it has been a huge space saver- her play area is under her bed and all of her toys fit there. I don't know where we would have put them (neatly) otherwise.

Family room: this room still has some decorating to be desired. But we love the hardwood floors, and how many windows there are. We spend a lot of time in this room. We recently bought a new TV for the room, but haven't been able to find an adequate TV stand/cabinet - Dan has been researching this like it's his baby. I've never seen him so opinionated about anything, especially a piece of furniture. But I guess it makes sense considering it will be holding his baby, i.e. his new TV.

Eating area: I guess that's what you'd call this 'room'. This area and the kitchen have been the hardest adjusting to because they are SO small. But they have personality.

Kitchen: We love the countertops and floor in this room. I also love the window looking out to the backyard. It lets a lot of light in, and in nice weather will let me keep an eye on the kids from inside.

Wall window: Not sure what to call this either, but a good sized 'window' has been cut between the kitchen and family room. I love this because it makes each room seem more spacious. We will also be painting around this 'window' to add a little something.

Upstairs bathroom: this is the girls'/guest bathroom. My goal was for it to not be to 'cutesy' since not just the kids would be using it. So we got rid of all the bug decor (shower curtain, towels, mat, etc.....) and tried to make it somewhat grown-up, yet kid friendly. Not easy.

Downstairs there is another family room, the Master, and what will be the baby's room. There is still a lot of unpacking to be done. Hopefully soon.
